Brian is the principal investigator of the Western Canadian Cryospheric Network (WC2N), a UNBC representative to the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS), and a scientific steering member of the Columbia Basin Trust. Brian also sits on the BC Hydro technical advisory committee for the Pacific Climatic Impacts Consortium. He has strong research links with faculty at Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia, the University of Calgary, the University of Alberta, and the University of Victoria.
Brian’s research involves the study of earth surface systems and their response to climatic change in three thematic areas: i) recent and future changes of alpine glaciers in western Canada; ii) environmental reconstructions of geomorphic processes and hydrologic events; and iii) Holocene glacier fluctuations.
