Encouraging Climate Action Provincially

The BC Climate Action Secretariat leads and drives change to achieve the Province's greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.  We have a strong team of committed and knowledgeable people with expertise in key areas of climate action: carbon neutral operations, transportation and energy policy, research and strategic partnerships.

We support the Climate Action Team – which includes world leaders in climate sciences – in its advisory role to develop leading-edge policies.

We work with almost every ministry in B.C.'s government to facilitate best practices research and policy and ensure that the public sector itself becomes carbon neutral.

We maintain links with First Nations, communities, industries, environmental organizations, the scientific community and other provinces, states and countries.

We work with seven regional Citizens' Conservation Councils on Climate Action that are building a network for grassroots climate action across British Columbia. The councils that serve northern B.C. include the Northeast Council, the Skeena – North Coast Council and the Cariboo – Prince George Council.

We encourage British Columbians to take part in the LiveSmart BC: Efficiency Incentive Program, which helps them save money, save energy and reduce their carbon footprint.

We provide information to inform public discussion and dialogue as British Columbians move toward a shared vision of opportunity and action in our communities, businesses and homes.

We'll continue to provide up-to date information on the LiveSmart BC website as B.C. meets climate change challenges and recognizes the accompanying opportunities.
