Community Energy Association
Connecting Communities, Energy and Sustainability
The Community Energy Association (CEA) is a charitable collaboration helping British Columbia local governments tackle energy issues and climate change, at both the community-wide level and for carbon neutral operations. By working closely with our partners – including the Union of BC Municipalities, Province of British Columbia, transit and energy service providers and professional organizations – we have been serving the needs of local governments for over 15 years. Our mission is to support and celebrate municipalities, regional districts and First Nations who want to take action on energy and greenhouse gas reduction in their communities. Our comprehensive suite of publications, freely available to download from our website, will get you started. Our staff is available to provide presentations to local government staff, Councils or Boards, assist with securing funding, and support energy planning and implementation.
CEA Co-Chair, Dan Rogers, Mayor of Prince George, says, “Communities in central and northern BC are already significantly affected by climate impacts on local environments and local economies. People everywhere must work toward energy sustainability to mitigate these effects. Fortunately people are rising to the challenge, and communities are discovering the multitude of immediate local benefits that occur through making such choices. Opportunities exist for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reducing energy costs, improving local air quality and creating new local jobs all at the same time. These are the sorts of choices that are available to communities in central and northern BC and that the Community Energy Association is helping communities to implement now.”For more information please visit www.communityenergy.bc.ca.
