The IRM Partnership was established as a small informal group in 2002 as a forum for business-oriented dialogue on resource development. Its activities have been focused primarily in northern British Columbia. The organizations representing most major land-based natural resource sectors have actively participated, as have the Province of BC and the University of Northern BC. The McGregor Model Forest Association is a member and has ’hosted’ the IRM Partnership by providing administration and support. Since its establishment the group has added to the knowledge of resource managers and others through its member networking and by undertaking a major conference on integrated management in 2003, publishing an information document called Creating a Balance, and through regular exchanges of sector information. The IRM Partnership is currently working to establish funding in order to carry out projects that support improved integrated resources management and development as well as improved linkages with communities.
