Guidebook TOC – Taking Action on Climate Change
At the Communities and Climate Change Workshop participants received a handout from Cindy Pearce titled “Taking Action on Climate Change - A Guidebook for Western Canadian Forest-Based Communities”. The hand-out provided the draft Table of Contents (TOC) to this proposed guidebook. Cindy has asked for feedback on the draft (attached in MS Word – 35KB) as per the following message:
I’ve not received much feedback on the draft table of contents for the guidebook for rural forest-based communities that was handed out at the MMF workshop in May. It was a busy session, and if you’re like me, that long blue page got tucked away when you got back to the piles of work at your desk. So I thought I’d send it out electronically and see if a few of you might have a few minutes to take a look at this and get back to me with your thoughts. It’s only one page, and is a preliminary outline. It’s a starting point for this Model Forest Network project, and I’d very much appreciate your input as we go forward with this.
Please send your thoughts to me by email to cindypearce@telus.net, give me a call at 250 837-3966. Thanks in advance for whatever input you have time to provide. Best regards, Cindy
C-CIARN Lives to See Another Year!
Excerpt from the C-CIARN BC July 2006 Newsletter: “After a period of uncertainty about the future of CCIARN we have received word that the network will continue to operate for another year, effective July 1st 2006 to June 30th 2007. CCIARN BC has an exciting agenda for the coming year in which we will explore new ways to promote understanding and expand the dialogue on climate change impacts and adaptation. Look for details in subsequent e-bulletins.”
Climate Change and Forest Sector Impacts Document
Attached please find a synthesis paper titled “Adapting Forest Management to the Impacts of Climate Change in Canada”. This project was lead by Dr. Mark Johnston at the Saskatchewan Research Council and funded under the BIOCAP Research Integration Program. The report identifies a range of ways that climate change may impact human and economic systems and considers factors that may influence our capacity to adapt.
