Huble Homestead

McGregor Russia project.

Witness History in the Making!

Robert Frederick, a local First Nations artist, was at the Huble Homestead until July 15, 2005 transforming an ordinary cottonwood tree into a spectacular traditional Carrier dug out canoe.  The canoe is now on display at the Huble Homestead.

Robert carefully chose a 25 foot cottonwood tree to carve.  Through his hard work and dedication, this simple log has become a beautiful piece of art, as well as a fully functional canoe.  The process began on June 21, 2005 as part of the First Nations Fish Camp Reconstruction Project.

While out there, you also have the opportunity to see the development of our traditional Carrier Fish Camp.  This new addition to the Huble site will depict what a Carrier Fish Camp would have looked like in the early 1900’s and it will be the first of its kind in this area.

Come out to the Huble Homestead and turn an ordinary day into a journey back in time!  Located on the scenic Fraser River, 40 km north of Prince George just off highway 97.
